Sri Lanka’s captain at the Women’s World T20 Shashikala Siriwardene was ruled out of the tournament when she suffered a hamstring injury.
The incident comes just a day before the group’s match against Ireland, which is held today.
"It is about 5 cm tear, and she has to undergo a surgery. So, she is out of the entire World Cup and she will be going home," SL’s women’s team manager Vanessa de Silva said.
They are looking at doing the surgery in Mumbai.
