Shahid Afridi picked up two wickets in ICC World T20 2016 match against New Zealand to surpass Lasith Malinga.
Shahid Afridi is now the highest wicket-taker in World T20s surpassing Lasith Malinga during World T20 2016 match against New Zealand at Mohali. Afridi finished with 2 for 40 in his four overs against New Zealand, in a match Pakistan lost by 22 runs. With this loss Pakistan have crashed out of the tournament. They will play Australia in a few day’s match in their last group match, but there is no guarantee that a win will enable them qualify for the semi-final. If they beat Australia, they will have to depend the results of other matches in their group to go their way. The match against Australia could be Afridi’s last match in international cricket.
A lot of pressure has been mounted on Afridi, who has been accused of not leading the team well by many former players. There were even talks about the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) sacking him at the end of the World T20 World Cup 2016. Afridi’s last Test and One-Day International (ODI) have both come against Australia. His final T20 International (T20I) too could come against the same opponent.
