Following the World T20 win over Sri Lanka England’s Eoin Morgan said the team showed they could play both smart and aggressive.
"I think we showed we're capable of playing both smart and aggressive cricket," he said in a post-match press conference. "We've struggled to do that in the last six-eight months or so. It's an area we're constantly trying to improve. Today we went a long way in doing that."
He added, "The first 15 overs, what we batted wasn't cautious but it was on the smart side. Given the value of two set batsmen for the last five overs or so, the impact it can have with guys like Jos Buttler in and set is big."
"It's nice to see us build, go from strength to strength and game-by-game. We chased down 230 (against South Africa), against Afghanistan we put our backs against the wall early and had to come back and fight quite hard, and today it was completely different in the way that we were way ahead of the game and had them four down early. Angelo got them back into the game. It sort of asked a completely different question of us," Morgan joked.
"He set it up really well. Angelo put himself in the best position possible towards the back end and in order to do that, he did what he had to do against the spinners. In the last over he gave himself every chance. He went through his strength of hitting spin and then in the last over, Ben Stokes bowled an outstanding over. It put the pressure back on him," Morgan said.
"To be honest, I don't expect a great deal. I don't set expectations, barriers, limitations. It's all about getting the best out of what we have, and at the moment we seem to be doing that. If we do that from here on, we will put ourselves in a really good position," he concluded.
