McCullum Defies Laws Of Physics Again

Plays of the day from Delhi Daredevils' convincing eight-wicket win over Gujarat Lions in Rajkot

Rishabh Pant playing in only his 3rd IPL match stole the limelight as he hit a 40 ball 69 with the help of 9 fours and 2 sixes, as the Daredevils chased down the target of 150 with 16 balls to spare.

With yesterday's win, their 5th in 7 matches, the Daredevils now have 10 points to occupy the 2nd spot behind the Lions who have 12 points from 9 matches.

McCullum, In Orbit

With eight required off three overs, Samson heaved Jadeja towards long-on. It looked like the swipe had enough power to clear the boundary, before a spectacular effort reversed the direction of the ball. It was Brendon McCullum. Again.

A foot inside the boundary, McCullum backtracked slowly with his eyes peeled on the trajectory of the ball. As it descended, McCullum leapt. With both feet in the air, he stuck out his right hand, and hung on. Just before meeting the ground - over the boundary - he threw the ball back into the field of play to save four runs. Samson hammered the next ball into the stands over midwicket, just to make sure.

Watch the way Brendon McCullum produced a spectacular effort at the long-on fence to prevent a boundary…..
