President of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Shashank Manohar has resigned from the position.
Manohar can now run for election as the next International Cricket Council chairman. Reports say that he is the front-runner to be elected to the post again in a ballot set to take place during the remainder of this month.
"The BCCI confirms that Mr Shashank Manohar has resigned from the post of President, BCCI” a statement from the board read.
"Manohar has also resigned as the BCCI representative on the International Cricket Council and the Asian Cricket Council.
"The BCCI places on record its deep appreciation of the immense contribution to Indian cricket made by Mr Manohar."
