DAVID Warner believes he doesn’t need any warm-up matches to prepare for a Test match in Sri Lanka.
Australia’s vice-captain will head into the Test series in Sri Lanka short of match practice as he nurses a broken finger.
Warner missed half of last month’s Caribbean tour after breaking his left index finger while fielding, and is likely to sit out the team’s opening warm-up game in Sri Lanka next week.
That match is actually an intra-team practice game but that is shortly followed by a first-class match against local opposition. Even if Warner doesn’t play that, he’s confident he’ll pick up where he left off in the first Test against Sri Lanka starting on July 26.
“I’ve done it before,” Warner said of going into a Test match without a practice match. “I’ve picked up a bat and gone back out there and tried to play to the best of my abilities. Sometimes it comes off, he told Fox sports.
