Chandimal Pushes Sri Lanka To 355
Dinesh Chandimal scored the seventh century of his Test career as Sri Lanka ground out the highest total of this series so far, posting 355 in the first innings in Colombo.
On a dry pitch that offered some turn, fast bowler Mitchell Starc was again Australia's most effective weapon and claimed his third five-wicket haul of the series, but it is Australia's batting that will determine whether this match becomes a contest or another Sri Lankan triumph.
For now it seems Australia’s on the right path as Shaun Marsh and Steven Smith have put on an unbeaten partnership for 120 runs with Steven Smith on 61 off 108 deliveries and Shaun Marsh on 64 off 141 deliveries.
At stumps on day two, Australia are on 141 for 1 with 9 wickets remaining and trailing by 214 runs.
