England cricketer Liam Thomas completes play despite prosthetic leg flying off in diving save
A member of the England Physical Disabilities cricket team lost his prosthetic leg while fielding, but still got up to prevent a boundary from being scored.
Liam Thomas was fielding against Pakistan in the final of the ICC Academy Dubai invitation T20 tournament last week when the incident happened.
Thomas courageously threw himself into a diving stop, only for his prosthetic leg to come loose as he slid across the turf to gather the ball.
After the match, Thomas said it all happened on instinct.
"It just happened, really. I was sprinting for the ball, put my hand out, hit the deck hard and the next thing I know I stood up and had no leg," Thomas said.
"I didn't know whether to grab the leg or get the ball in. I decided to go for the ball."
His commitment went unrewarded though, Pakistan successfully chasing 138 to win by three wickets with just four balls to spare.
