Sri Lanka-India 4th ODI today, Sri Lanka’s automatic entry to 2019 WC at stake

The 4th ODI between Sri Lanka and India will be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium this afternoon.

At the moment, India lead the 5-match series 3 nil.

Fast bowler, Lasith Malinga will lead the local side, due to injury to stand-in captain Chamara Kapugedera.

World cup entry:

The analysts say that Sri Lanka should win the remaining two ODIs against India to ensure their automatic qualification for the 2019 Cricket World Cup to be held in England.

Lose them both, and they will automatically qualify only if West Indies win no more than three of their five ODIs against England next month (and do not lose the one-off game to Ireland).

If Sri Lanka win one of the remaining games, then they must hope that West Indies do not win all six of their upcoming matches.

Security is beefed up:

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Police said they will deploy around 1,000 policemen to strengthen security in and around R. Premadasa Stadium.

CCTV systems have also been fixed to enhance surveillance of the troublemakers.

The authorities have decided to strengthen security after crowds misbehaved and showed their anger following the losses in Dambulla and Pallekele.
