Sri Lanka Cricket's decision to impose a ban on Chamara Silva, accusing him of involving in match-fixing, has come under criticism from former players.

Former skipper Mahela Jayawardena and international cricket commentator Russel Arnold are openly criticizing the ruling.

Mahela in a twitter message said, it seems that the honest man who disagreed with fixing the game had been given a tougher punishment while those who involved in the crime had been given lighter punishments.

He said the accused coach should have been banned for life.

"How is this fair.. the guy walks away from fixing gets two years. Ones who are involved gets one year?” he wrote.

Meanwhile, Arnold wrote, "Really gutted for Chamara Silva ... have the utmost respect for him..  Top bloke and honest. Feeling a bit dizzy at the moment !!!".

However, a group of cricketers was expected to have a meeting and discuss Chamara's issue this evening.

It was expected to be attended by former as well as present cricketers.
