A brilliant opening spell from Bhuvneshwar Kumar and a terrific hat-trick from Kuldeep Yadav towards the end of the innings helped India beat Australia by 50 runs in the second ODI at Eden Gardens yesterday (21).

Ajinkya Rahane 55 (64 balls, 4x7) and Virat Kohli 92 (107 balls, 4x8) added 102 runs for the second wicket after Rohit Sharma (07) lost his wicket early.

Nathan Coulter-Nile and Kane Richardson then restricted the rest of the Indian batting bagging 3 wickets each.

The home team totaled 252 all out in 50 overs. But a brilliant bowling performance by the ‘Men in Blue’ never let the Aussies to get off the hook.

Playing his 100th ODI, Steven Smith scored 59. Marcus Stoinis made an unbeaten 62.

Bhuvneshwar (6.1-2-9-3) and Yadav (10-1-54-3) restricted the visitors to 202 all out in the 44th over.

With this victory, India also reclaimed number 1 spot in ODI rankings.
