Sri Lanka totaled 227 for 4 wickets at stumps on day 1 of their first Test being played against Pakistan at Abu Dhabi, today.

Dimuth Karunaratne was the backbone of Sri Lanka innings with 93.

Tagged as a second innings specialist, Karunaratne proved his critics wrong and faced 205 balls and hit 5 fours during his stay at the crease. 

Sri Lanka lost 3 wickets for 61 runs (Kaushal Silva 12, Lahiru Thirimanne 0 and Kusal Mendis 10) by lunch.

Then Karunaratne added 100 runs with skipper Dinesh Chandimal for the 4th wicket, before the left-hander was run out when the total was at 161.

At stumps, Chandimal was 60 not out and Niroshan Dickwella was 42 not out.

In bowling, Yasir Shah bagged 2 for 59.
