Sources say that fast bowler Lasith Malinga has not been considered for the upcoming 5-match One Day International series against Pakistan to be played in UAE.

However, Malinga has not made any request to not to consider him for the series.

The decision has been taken by the selectors.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka middle-order batsman Angelo Mathews has been ruled out of the second Test against Pakistan, the team management confirmed today (04).

It was earlier hoped Mathews would be able to sufficiently recover from a calf injury to join the team in Dubai.

The second Test between Sri Lanka and Pakistan will be played from Friday and it will Sri Lanka’s first ever day-night Test.

Mathews' absence will leave Sri Lanka with decisions on the make-up of their top order.

With Lahiru Thirimanne and Kaushal Silva having had modest outings in the Abu Dhabi Test, the chances of either Roshen Silva or Sadeera Samarawickrama making a debut, have risen.
