A sublime century by left-handed opener Dimuth Karunaratne helped Sri Lanka reach 254 for the loss of 3 wickets against Pakistan at the close of day 1 of 2nd Test in Dubai.

Historically, this is Sri Lanka’s first ever Day Night Test.

At stumps, Karunaratne was 133 not out. It was his 7th Test hundred.

Skipper, Dinesh Chandimal was 49 not out.

Earlier in the day, Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bat first. Openers Kaushal Silva and Karunaratne added 63 runs before Yasi Shah removed Silva for 27.

Then debutante Sadeera Samarawickrama hit 38 runs off 35 balls before he was deceived by Mohammad Amir to be caught and bowl.

Sadeera played some superb shots and he added 68 runs for the second wicket with Karunaratne.

Kusal Mendis could not last long. He made just one. Then Sri Lanka was 138 for 3.

Thereafter, Chandimal and Karunaratne added an unbeaten 118 runs for the 4th wicket.

In bowling, Shah bagged 2 for 90.
