Sri Lanka ODI skipper Upul Tharanga says he will not quit the captaincy despite the 5-nil thrashing the team had against Pakistan.

Sri Lanka's 9 wicket loss to Pakistan in Sharjah yesterday (23) was the team's 12th consecutive ODI loss.

"It's the responsibility of the selectors and the board. I don't want to leave the team and go. The board will decide who will take the team forward," Tharanga told journalists.

He added that as captain he would take the blame for the loss.

In 2017, Sri Lanka has so far played 26 matches and had won only 4. Incidentally, the loss to Pakistan was Sri Lanka’s 3rd series whitewash this year.

Earlier, they lost to South Africa and India.
