“Sri Lanka T20 team determined to do well” – Thisara Perera

Sri Lanka T20 captain Thisara Perera says the team is determined to do well in the T20 series against Pakistan despite the recent decline in Sri Lanka’s performance in ODI’s and T20’s.
The first T20 between the two sides will be played at Abu Dhabi this evening (26).
“Every team goes through tough times. It is part and parcel of cricket. As captain, I have given the players confidence and told them not to be selfish but to give all what they’ve got for the team. The selectors also have echoed same sentiments”, Perera said.
Thisara was appointed to lead the team after regular skipper Upul Tharanga along with seniors Angelo Mathews and Lasith Malinga opted not to travel to Lahore for the final match.
Then the selectors named a new-look squad for the entire series.
Thisara Perera was in Pakistan last month with a World XI to play a T20 series with Pakistan. He said he was impressed with the security that was provided to the World XI during that tour.
“I was there in Lahore with the World XI last month and I was very impressed with the security that was given to the players”. “We were given security that is given to a Head of State. We were there for six days and were very impressed with the arrangements.”
Perera added, “There are some very good talents in this team. Hopefully, we will do something special in this series. We will challenge Pakistan. We have told everyone to play without fear of failure. It doesn’t matter if you fail after giving 100 percent. Everyone knows this is a good opportunity and if someone does well, that will be a huge moment in his career.”
