Upul Tharanga hits back-to-back fifties at BPL

Sri Lanka ODI skipper Upul Tharanga struck 51 off 40 balls and helped Sylhet Sixers' beat Victorians by 4 wickets in a tense in the Bangladesh Premier League match at Sylhet last evening (05).
With Sylhet needing 10 off the last over, Dwayne Bravo bowled Shuvagata Hom off the first ball.
He could have dismissed Nurul off the second ball had Rashid Khan at long-on not dropped a catch and parried the ball over the boundary.
Nurul then drilled the third ball to cover to reduce the equation to three off three balls.
The fourth ball was a slower ball from Bravo, and Liam Plunkett managed a single before Nurul edged the fifth past short third man, sparking wild celebrations in the Sylhet camp.
Sylhet had another strong start to their chase with Upul Tharanga and Andre Fletcher adding 73 for the opening stand.
But Comilla Victorians captain Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan claimed combined figures of 8-0-40-2 to stall the hosts.
Nurul, however, hung on, in the end, to give the hosts their second win in two days.
Earlier, Marlon Samuel's 60 off 47 balls hauled Comilla to 145 for 6 on a dry pitch where run-scoring wasn't easy. Krishmar Santokie and Taijul Islam led the bowling for Sylhet by taking two wickets each.
Having smashed fifties against Dhaka Dynamites on Saturday, Andre Fletcher and Upul Tharanga carried that form into their second game.
The West Indies opener struck two sixes and five fours in his 29-ball 36 while Tharanga provided him able support with quick singles and twos.
Sylhet Sixers' reached the winning target off 19.5 overs.
