Kamindu Mendis, who can bowl orthodox left-arm spin as well as right-arm off spin, and is also a handy batsman, will lead Sri Lanka Under-19 team at the World Cup in New Zealand.
 
Mendis had also played the previous U-19 World Cup, in Bangladesh in 2016.
 
Sri Lanka is in Group D for the showpiece junior event, which runs from 13th of January to 3rd of February.
 
They are grouped alongside Pakistan, Ireland, and Afghanistan.
 
They will begin their campaign on 14th of January in Whangarei against Ireland.
 
The Sri Lanka Cricket said that Minister of Sports Dayasiri Jayasekera ratified the original squad sent by the SLC after considering the appeals made by concerned parties.
