England's awful Ashes campaign ended with a huge defeat by Australia in the fifth and final Test in Sydney today as the hosts won the game by an innings and 123 runs.
 
The Englishmen were bowled out for 180 in their second innings which saw Australia completing a 4 nil series win.
 
Skipper Joe Root who struggle with severe dehydration from a bout of gastroenteritis was retired on 58.
 
Then fast bowler Pat Cummins snapped 3 wickets in quick succession ending the innings with 4 and match figures of 8-119.
 
James Anderson was the last man out, given caught behind off Josh Hazlewood.
 
Batting first, England made 346 and in reply, Australia totalled 649 for 7 declared.
 
The post-match presentations rather summed it all up.
 
Man of the Match was Cummins, for his eight wickets.
 
Man of the Series was Steven Smith, for his 687 runs, more than 300 in front of the highest-scoring England batsman, Dawid Malan.
