Danushka Gunathilake suspended for six intl. matches

Sri Lanka Cricket has suspended opener Danushka Gunathilake for six international cricket matches for breaching the ‘Player Code of Conduct and Contractual Obligation’.
Out of the total six matches, three matches have been handed over for the latest violation of the ‘Player Code of Conduct and Contractual Obligation’.
Whilst another 3 matches are given from a suspended sentence of one year, which Gunathilaka was already serving since 18th October 2017, for breaching the ‘Player Contract,’ in an earlier occasion.
Gunathilaka will also not be paid the match fee for the concluded 2nd test match which Sri Lanka played against South Africa during the ongoing tour, along with any bonus and or other payments in connection thereto.
The sanctions will come into force with immediate effect.
Gunathilaka is accused of breaching player-curfew during the second match and it was found he had taken in two Norwegian women to a room where the players were staying.
Later, one of the women lodged a complaint with police that she was raped by a friend of Gunathilaka he had also stayed in the same hotel room.
Police did not press rape charges against the cricketer, but his friend, a UK passport holder is in remand custody.
