Akila Dananjaya removed Hashim Amla and Aiden Markram in consecutive balls as South Africa reached 37 for 2 after 6 overs at lunch in Damballa.

Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, Sri Lanka was bowled out for 193 in 34.3 overs.

At one stage, the home team was reeling at 5 for 36 in 8.5 overs.

Then Kusal Janith (81 off 71 balls) and Thisara Perera (49 off 30 balls) added 92 runs for the sixth wicket.

However, none of the other Sri Lankan batsmen were failed to resist Kagiso Rabada and Tabraiz Shamsi.

Kagiso Rabada led South Africa's attack with 4 for 41, and Tabraiz Shamsi, operating as the sole specialist spinner, took 4 for 33 to mop up the tail.

Sri Lanka opted to open the batting with Niroshan Dickwella and Upul Tharanga and as usual, Dickwella seems to be attempting to become too flamboyant and gifted his wicket so early, putting the home team in trouble.
