Senior deputy solicitor general, Sumathi Dharmawardana informed the court of appeal today that steps will be taken to hold an independent election for Sri Lanka cricket.

He said either two retired high court judges or two retired judges of a superior court will be appointed to the committee to hold this election.

The petition filed by Nishantha Ranatunga, citing that MP Thilanga Sumathipala is not eligible to contest the cricket election was taken before the president of the Court of Appeal, Preethi Padman Surasena and Justice Arjuna Obesekera today.

The court scheduled the case hearing to be held on 30th November and ordered the respondents to file objections before October 5th.

The court also ordered the petitioner to file his objections against the respondents before October 26th.
