Concerns that team spirit weakening in Sri Lanka Cricket Team

Commenting on Sri Lanka’s loss against New Zealand in their first ODI, former Sri Lankan cricketer and international commentator Rusell Arnold tweeted that

Lankan players need to play together, and not against each other and hence, the joy will be back for all of us.

Arnold said that if everyone played with 100 percent energy, the gap between winning and losing can be overcome.

Meanwhile, former Lankan great Mahela Jayawardene applauded Thisara Perera for his 57-ball century, and went on to say that the last two games showed individual brilliance of Kusal Janith Perera and Thissara, but added that it was still not the teams collective brilliance.

A rift between certain players in the Sri Lanka Team was revealed through social media recently.

A facebook account said to be that of ODI and T20 Captain Lasith Malinga’s Wife had said that a certain player had met with the Sports Minister to safeguard his position.

Though there was no mention of a name, the post had used emoji’s of a Panda and interesting Thisara Perera is nicknamed by some as Panda.

However, an facebook account said to be that of Thisara Perera’s Wife had replied to the post.

Meanwhile, Thisara Perera had also put up a post saying that he doesn’t have to go behind anyone to cement his place and his performances during the last year or so speaks for himself.

Thisara hammered 140 yesterday as he almost carried Sri Lanka home.

New Zealand sealed a 21-run win over Sri Lanka and an unassailable 2-Nil one-day series lead.
