West Indies stormed into their first T20 world cup final riding on a whirlwind knock from their premier batsman Chris Gayle who set up the platform for a huge win over Australia.
Opting to bat, Gayle literally butchered the Australian bowlers with a 41-ball 75-run innings as West Indies notched up 205 for 4, which incidentally is the highest total of this edition.
In reply Australia was bowled out for 131 in 16.4 overs with skipper George Bailey scoring 63 runs off 41 balls.
Ravi Rampaul starred for the Windies with the ball taking 3 wickets for 16 runs off 3.4 overs.
The West Indies will meet Sri Lanka on Sunday where they will clash for the top prize of T20 cricket.
For the Sri Lankans, it will their second chance at T20 glory after reaching the T20 final in 2009 in England where the Lankans eventually fell short against Pakistan at Lords.
