Dimuth Karunaratne scored his maiden half century to guide Sri Lanka to a 10-wicket victory in the 1st Test against New Zealand at the Galle International Stadium.
Debutant opener Karunaratne was undefeated at 60 as Sri Lanka reached the required target of 93 in just 18.3 overs. Tharanga Paranavitana was 31 not out.
New Zealand was bowled out for just 118 runs in the 2nd innings and Rangana Herath took 11 wickets in the match.
He was adjudged as man of the match and Rangana also became the highest wicket taker for the year 2012 in test cricket picking up 45 wickets.
