Sri Lanka’s left-arm spinner Rangana Herath has been replaced as the highest wicket taker in Test cricket this year by England off-spinner Graeme Swann.
The Englishman took three wickets in the third Test against India at Eden Gardens which the tourists won by seven wickets yesterday to take his overall tally for 2012 to 56 wickets, one more than Herath.
Herath has taken 55 wickets in 2012, but five Tests fewer than Swann at an impressive average of 20:94.
Swann meanwhile averages 30:17. Herath took 20 wickets in the recent Test series against New Zealand at home.
