After being put in to bat by Pakistan, India recovered from a disastrous start of being 5 for 29 to post 227 runs in their allotted 50 overs with skipper M. S. Dhoni scoring an unbeaten 113.

Junaid Khan was the wrecker in chief for the Pakistanis finishing with 4 wickets for 43 runs in 9 overs.

In reply Pakistan reached the target in 48.1 overs with opener Nasir Jamshed scoring 101 not out.

Younis Khan chipped in with a brisk 58 runs and Shoab Malik was unbeaten on 34 runs at the end of the match.

Debutant Bhu-va-neshwar Kumar was the pick of the Indian attack picking up 2 for 27 in 9 overs including picking up the wicket of Pakistani skipper Mohommad Hafeez with the first ball of the Pakistani inning, which was his first ODI delivery.
