Gujarat's Karan Varadia was expelled from the India U-19 squad set to tour Sri Lanka in a couple of days after he was found to be over-age.

Varadia had been picked as part of a 15-man squad, led by Vijay Zol, to take on the Islanders in two four-day games in Dambulla and Kurunegala.

The discrepancy regarding Varadia's age was discovered only when Suru Nayak, a member of the Board of Control for Cricket in India's cricket operations, realised that the date of birth on the youngster's passport didn't tally with the one on his birth certificate.
