SLCs acting CEO Ashley de Silva has said that Sri Lanka Cricket has received six applications for the job of head coach as the deadline closed today.

Current coach Graham Ford will vacate the post due to family reasons when his contract expires in January, meaning Sri Lanka will have a new coach in the year leading up to the 2015 World Cup.

Paul Farbrace, who was Sri Lankas assistant coach during Trevor Bayliss tenure, is believed to be among the applicants.

Among the others who are understood to have applied are Shane Duff, former trainer of the Sri Lanka team, and Ruwan Kalpage, former Sri Lanka spinner and current fielding coach.

There have also been attempts by SLC to secure the services of Peter Moores, the former England team coach who is now in charge of Lancashire, and Stephen Fleming, the former New Zealand captain and current coach of Chennai Super Kings.
