Former England captain Andrew Strauss has backed the decision to drop Hot Spot for the Ashes in Australia, claiming "no-one trusts" the system.

Host broadcaster Channel Nine has opted not to use the thermal imaging technology which was at the centre of several controversial decisions during Englands series victory this summer.

Snicko uses sound waves to try to detect whether a batsman has edged a ball, while Hot Spot uses thermal imaging cameras.

While there have been instances where a faint edge has not shown up on Hot Spot, it had been hoped the two packages could work together to create a better decision review system.
