Sri lanka wins a test series in England for the first time.-Video
Sri lanka registered a famous win against England yesterday with just one ball to spare and won the series 1 – nil.
With one wicket to take and two balls left on the final day, Sri Lanka sealed the game in the penultimate ball to win by 100 runs.
Shaminda Eranga finally ended Jimmy Anderson's stubborn resistance in the last over as Sri Lanka won the second test by 100 runs to clinch its first ever test series victory in England.
Anderson had survived for 20 overs in the company of Moeen Ali, who batted through the day for an unbeaten 108 off 281 balls, his maiden Test century.
But when Anderson failed to ride a bouncer, the ball looped to Rangana Herath to see England bowled out for 249 to lose by 100 runs.
Player of the match was the Captain of the Sri Lankan team Angelo Mathews, while the Players of the series were Jimmy Anderson and Angelo Mathews.
This is also Sri Lanka’s first ever test series win in England.
Meanwhile, President Mahinda Rajapaksha congratulated the Sri Lankan team last night.
