South Africa's Jacques Kallis has been praised by leading figures after retiring from international cricket.

The all-rounder, who retired from Test cricket in December, has now decided to end his one-day international career.

38 year old Kallis intends to continue playing Twenty20 cricket for Sydney Thunder and Kolkata Knight Riders.

Kallis made his decision after scoring only five runs from his final three ODIs in Sri Lanka this month.

Kallis retires from international cricket

Jacques Kallis has announced his retirement from international cricket, across all three formats. The South Africa batsman had quit Tests late last year but prolonged his limited-overs career. However, after a poor one-day tour of Sri Lanka recently, Kallis has decided to call time on his limited-overs career as well.
