Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara has been fined 15 per cent of his match fee for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the sixth One-Day International against England in Pallekele yesterday.

Sangakkara was found to have breached Article 2.1.3 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “Showing dissent at an Umpire’s decision during an International Match.”

The incident happened at the beginning of the 34th over in Sri Lanka’s innings when Sangakkara got involved in a prolonged discussion with on-field umpire Bruce Oxenford, disputing the umpire’s decision to not allow Sri Lanka to take the batting Powerplay at that time.
