4th suspect of the Dehiwala 10 million gem robbery arrested

Mt. Lavinia Police Crime Investigation Division has arrested another suspect in connection with the 10 million rupees gem robbery that took place 10 months ago in Dehiwala area.

The suspect, a 51-year old resident of Beruwala was arrested when he visited Mt.Lavinia to sell some of the robbed stones.

Mt.Lavinia police said that another 3 suspects arrested in connection with the same robbery have been released on bail.

A group of persons who visited a house on Tissa Mawatha in Dehiwala on the 11th of April last year fled the scene after robbing some of the gem-stones.

A spokesman from the Mt.Lavinia police said that investigations revealed the group of robbers is also engaged in gem business.

The arrested suspect would be produced before Mt.Lavinia Magistrate today.
