A request to postpone Indo - Sri lanka fishermen discussions

Sri Lankan government has requested India to postpone talks concerning the India - Sri Lanka fisheries issue.

These talks were scheduled to be held on the 5th of March in Chennai.

Poaching by Indian trawlers has become a long standing issue.

State Minister for Fisheries Dileep Weda-arachchi told our news team that they should further study the alternatives offered by India.

When our news team enquired regarding the measures to prevent Indian fishermen from poaching, the State Minister for Fisheries further said that the Navy is continuously working on it.
