Court permits to transfer Shashee Weerawansa to Prison Hospital

Colombo Fort Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya ordered today to take suitable action with regard to former minister Wimal Weerawansa’s wife, who is currently under remand custody at a private hospital in Malambe.

The Prison Officers filed a motion today requesting the court to transfer Shashi Weerawansa from her private hospital to the Prison Hospital.

The motion stated that Shashi Weerawansa is able to take treatment at the Prison hospital.

After considering the motion, Fort Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya ordered to take suitable action under the observation of the Chief Medical officer of the Prison.

Police arrested Shashi Weerawansa for allegedly possessing a diplomatic passport obtained by producing forged documents.

Later the Kaduwela Magistrate who visited Shashi Weerawansa at the hospital ordered to remand her till tomorrow.

Meanwhile, addressing a media conference held in Colombo, Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana stated that Shashi Weerawansa has made 6 overseas trips using this forged passport.

The Police Media Spokesman also commented on the allegations saying that she was arrested after the recent rally held in Nugegoda.

SSP Ajith Rohana stated that these allegations are completely false and that the rally was held few days ago, while the complaint regarding Shashi Weerawansa was lodged one month ago.

He also said that a person born in 1967 cannot be born again in 1971.
