CID grills Ex-Navy Officer over missing 11 Tamil & Muslim youth

The CID has questioned former Navy Spokesmen D K P Dassanayaka yesterday.

Police media spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana stated that a statement was obtained from former Navy spokesperson regarding the disappearance of 11 Tamil and Muslim youth during 2008 and 2009 from Colombo and Trincomalee.

Police media spokesperson stated that former Navy Spokesmen D K P Dassanayaka was questioned for 5 hours.

Following the disappearance in 2008 and 2009 a broad investigation was initiated and it was revealed that several Navy personnel were also involved in the incident.

An intelligence unit was set up according to the instructions of then Navy Commander Vice Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda and the unit was led by Captain D K P Dassanayaka.

Following the investigations carried out by the CID it was revealed that there is evidence that the said intelligence unit is involved in the disappearances.

Accordingly the CID had question the former Navy Spokesmen D K P Dassanayaka.
