The SLFP Central Working Committee has decided to restrict its parliamentarians from participating in political rallies organized by other political parties, without obtaining the permission of the party.

A communiqué issued under the signature of SLFP General Secretary Anura Priyadarshana Yapa stated that the party has started its restructuring program under the new office bearers.

The aim of SLFP is to work together with its coalition parties and secure majority seats in the parliament in the forthcoming general election.

Yapa said that this decision was taken to prevent SLFP MPs expressing their personal views to the media which would create prejudices towards the party policies.

The communiqué also stated that SLFP parliamentarians have been given opportunity to participate in media conferences organized by the party.
