Ranil applauds Indian Policy on neighbours

Visiting Indian Premier Narendra Modhi told Sri Lankan parliament today that Sri Lanka is India’s closest neighbour and best trading partner.

The Indian Premier who arrived at parliament was welcomed by Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa and other parliamentarians.

Addressing the parliament, the visiting Indian Prime Minister said that it was an honour for him to address Sri Lankan parliament and said that he is ready to make Sri Lanka India’s strongest economic partner.

The Indian Prime Minister also stressed the importance of the strengthening of security measures between the two countries.

Later in his address, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said that Sri Lanka and India have bondage similar to that of the two face of a same coin.

Speaking further Premier Wickremesinghe said that he would applaud the current Indian policy on its neighbours.

Meanwhile Opposition Leader Nimal Siripala de Silva said that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modhi is an inspiration and an example for all politicians.

Later visiting Indian Prime Minister paid a floral tribute at the special statue built in memory of the Indian Peace Keeping Forces personnel killed in action in Sri Lanka.
