Tensed situation in Central Provincial Council

The Opposition members of the Central Provincial Council walked out from its sessions today charging that their demand to remove the Chief Minister was not met.

A tense situation erupted when the sessions began at Provincial council building at Pallekele this morning.

Later CPC Chairman Mahinda Abeykoon decided to adjourn the council session until April 7th.

15 UPFA members, 15 UNP members and 2 Democratic Party members of the UPFA controlled Central Provincial council, submitted affidavits to its Governor demanding the removal of the current chief minister.
