Update : Court injunction on Colombo Container drivers strike

The United Lanka Container Owners Association President Udeni Kalutantri said that his organization has decided to call off the strike today.

He said that the Association’s working committee has decided to call off the strike in respect of the injunction issued by the Court today.

The United Lanka Container Owners Association launched a strike yesterday against granting permission for outside container vehicles to enter the Colombo Port.

However, the Colombo Chief Magistrate who considered a motion submitted by the Grandpas Police issued an injunction on the strike this afternoon.

The Container drivers and assistants parked their vehicles near Inguru Kade junction last morning before they commenced the protest.

Later 3 Wharf Clerks Associations and Port Workers also extended their solidarity to the Container Drivers’ protest.

Interim order against container protest

Court issued an interim order against demonstration staged by container owners association in Ingurukade Junction, police stated.
