A proposal has been forwarded to appoint a coordinating committee to provide financial aid, to develop the living standard of 100,000 families headed by women in the North and East.
The program has been organized under the patronage of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Prime Minister Wickremesinghe emphasized that the existing programs have no clear coordination and vision.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, non-governmental organizations, representatives of the North and East Provincial Councils and representatives from the United Nations Human Settlements Committee will be included.
The first meeting will take place in Jaffna during the Prime Minister’s tour of Jaffna at the end of the month.
