Another Calf seized from a house at Kandalama

Dambulla police handed over the elephant calf, which was kept under fake documents at a house in Kandalama, to Sigiriya Wildlife Department Office this afternoon.

The police found the elephant calf this morning following a tip off, and the owner of the house was also arrested in connection with the incident.

Dambulla Police also said that the documents found in the possession of the suspect revealed details of another elephant calf which was sold to a Provincial Councilor by Niraj Roshan alias Ali Roshan.

Ali Roshan is held on remand in connection with keeping wild elephants under forged documents as well as selling them to individuals.
