A tense situation erupted when the UPFA parliamentarian group met at the parliament complex today before the house sitting.

UPFA coalition parties expressed different views about the SLFP MPs accepting ministerial posts in the government.

Later the situation turned to a heated argument, and the majority of SLFP ministers who accepted positions have stated that they would not attend UPFA meetings.

However, when our news team contacted Deputy Media Minister Shantha Bandara regarding the matter, he stated that despite holding different opinions, the MPs were able to compromise to some extent.

Our news team also questioned him about the tense situation which erupted during the meeting.

In response, the Deputy Minister stated that the newly appointed ministers of his party have already received the consent of the parliamentary group and the SLFP central working committee.

He added that they intend to carry out the party’s proposed plans under President Maithripala Sirisena’s government.
