All Inland Revenue Department staff have decided to apply for sick leave today and refrain from work in protest against entrusting the department’s collection of tax to a foreign company.

The general secretary for the National Inland Revenue General Employees’ Union Ajith Pushpakumara, told our news team that the Finance Ministry had submitted a cabinet paper, proposing that the collection of taxes be handed over to the private sector.
