Ambalangoda fishermen stage a protest; Protestors also siege the Fisheries office

A group of fishermen staged a protest at the Ambalangoda fisheries harbour demanding to remove the sand at the jetty, to help manoeuvre their boats.

According to our correspondent, the fishermen have raided the fisheries office during the protest.

All fishermen from Ambalangoda took part in the protest today refraining from engaging in their fishing activities.

Later, the fishermen participated in the negotiations at the Ambalangoda fisheries office.

When the matter was enquired from Deputy Manager of the Ambalangoda fisheries office - Prasad Weerakkody, he stated that he has promised to provide a solution to the matter within the next two weeks.
