Immigration and Emigration rules tightened for a few countries including Bangladesh

The Immigration and Emigration rules for citizens from a few countries including Bangladesh have been tightened.

The new measures have been taken to prevent members of sp called Islamic State from entering the Sri Lanka.

Controller of Visa and Border Management at the Immigration and Emigration Department Madduma Bandara Weerasekera stated that another aim of the new immigration rule is to prevent drug racketeers from entering the island.

He said that the bio-data of citizens from Syria, Nigeria, Pakistan, Cameron and Egypt will be referred to Intelligence Units before a tourist visa is issued.
