World immigrant crisis affects Sri Lanka as well – President

President Maithripala Sirisena says that the world immigrant crisis has become a serious issue for all nations, and they are facing new challenges in relation to it.

Participating at a function organized in connection with the establishment of the department of Immigration and Emigration and the Department of Registration of Persons at the newly built Suhurupaaya building in Battaramulla, yesterday, the President said that to a certain degree, these new challenges affect Sri Lanka as well.

Speaking further the President said that the Immigration and Emigration Department should take action to formulate new laws to deal with issues that the country may be faced with in the near future.
