1 killed and 2 injured in a wild elephant attack in Ambilipitiya

Two wild elephants have rampaged through a village in Moraketiya Ambilipitiya since this morning, killing one resident and injuring two others.

The two wild elephants believed to have entered the village from Uda Walawa national park.

However, villagers complained that the wildlife department officials have failed so far to drive away the two elephants from the village.

Uda Walawa Assistant range officer A.P.D.R. Karunasena described the ongoing operation to drive away the elephants.
