The Ceylon Electricity Board has proposed that the Public Utility Commission increase electricity tariff for all sectors.

Public Utility Commission Director General Damitha Kumarasinghe told our news team that CEB wants a 5% increase in the electricity tariff.

He further said that the increase should take effect from between October 1st and 31st March next year.

However the Director General said that at the moment there is no urgency to increase electricity price.
